The Badgers fought and fought and fought some more Thursday morning in the Bahamas. Wisconsin overcame a 15-point lead from Kansas in the second half to take a three-point lead over the nation No. 3 with less than a minute left.
A three-pointer from Kevin McCullar Jr. leveled the game and forced overtime, and it was an acrobatic layup by Bobby Pettiford Jr. with 0.2 points remaining that finally made the difference. Kansas walked away with a 69-68 win, but Wisconsin looked like a team capable of much more than predicted ninth place in the Big Ten.

Freshman guard Connor Essegian was another offensive lift, Tyler Wahl led by 23 points, and the Badger defense unsurprisingly looked strong. This is how Wisconsin Twitter reacted to the dramatic loss:
Second chances were the story of the opening tip, fitting

Just when you think you’ve figured out the answers, someone else changes the questions!
Bobby Pettiford – most unlikely hero – delivers as Kansas stuns Wisconsin on buzzer!

Kansas sneaks past Wisconsin in OT in the Bahamas.
Jayhawks need to stop spending so much time on the lazy river.

Incredible second half from Wisconsin that pretty much gave America the playbook on how to beat Kansas but the Jayhawks have no end. fun game. https://t.co/5cMSx04d11

Kansas, No. 3, escapes with a 69-68 last-second win in overtime against Wisconsin in a Battle 4 Atlantis semifinals. Heartbreaker for Wisconsin after 15 behind. It may not always be pretty, but damn, this Badgers basketball team is tough.

Anyone take back the claim that basketball can’t be fun in Wisconsin?

I’m watching this game in Wisconsin and I’ve really tried my best not to be such a basketball snob anymore, but this is really testing me.

Whatever happens in OT, this is one of the greatest Wisconsin basketball accomplishments I can remember. They were knocked down several times in the last 25 minutes and each time they fought back

I said 5th or 6th before this game but I think they’re going to be very tough at home so maybe 3rd in the Big Ten after seeing them play for the first time. Wisconsin basketball
If the freshman averages 18, who knows.
