CarolinaPower donates 75 turkeys to feed homeless people in the state of South Carolina

CarolinaPower, along with its sister companies in the PPC Partners family, set an ambitious goal earlier this year to collectively accomplish at least “75 acts of kindness” in 2022 – part of a company-wide, year-long celebration of their 75th anniversary.

CarolinaPower President Chris Moore is quick to point out that the company’s culture is centered around having a servant’s heart, thinking by golden rules, and focusing on the needs of others. Employees at all four CarolinaPower locations – Greenville, Columbia, Charleston and North Augusta – strive to make a positive impact on the communities they serve.

“In light of the holiday season, we have selected Miracle Hill Ministries in the Upstate region of South Carolina as the beneficiary of our signature ‘act of kindness’ for this milestone anniversary year,” said Madison Younginer, CarolinaPower’s business development executive.

Each year, Miracle Hill prepares a Thanksgiving celebration for more than 5,000 homeless and hungry adults and children in Miracle Hill shelters and impoverished families throughout the Upstate community. With the help of local radio hosts Ellis & Bradley and donations from the public, volunteers gather on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving to roast and smoke more than 600 turkeys at South Carolina’s largest roast turkey event. This year marked the 16thth Annual Ellis & Bradley Turkey Fry benefiting Miracle Hill Ministries.

“This year, in honor of our milestone anniversary, we wanted to do something very special for our neighbors in need. With that in mind, CarolinaPower decided to donate 75 frozen turkeys—one for each year in business,” Younginer explained. “It took some planning to secure, collect and deliver 75 frozen turkeys, but luckily we didn’t have any major logistical challenges.”

Miracle Hill has many ways for the public to help out during the holiday season and beyond. Items can be purchased all year round from their Amazon Wishlist with direct delivery to their administration office. Financial contributions are also welcome.
