The lawsuit, filed by Attorneys General for Missouri and Louisiana, alleges that the Biden administration “colluded” with social media companies to limit Americans’ freedom of speech by restricting the spread of COVID-related misinformation.
It is expected that Dr. Anthony Fauci is being removed under oath in a lawsuit alleging the federal government colluded with social media companies to stifle free speech.
Corresponding The Kansas City StarMissouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, a Republican, filed the lawsuit along with Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry.
The complaint suggests that the Biden administration has been proactive in trying to censor statements that could be characterized as coronavirus-related misinformation.
“The accused Dr. Anthony Fauci, a senior federal government official, coordinated with others to organize a campaign in early 2020 to discredit the lab leak hypothesis,” Landry and Schmitt wrote in a court filing. “As Director of [National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases] NIAID, Dr. Fauci, had risky “gain-of-function” research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology through intermediaries such as the EcoHealth Alliance led by Dr. Peter Daszak funded.”
However, the filing seemed somewhat speculative in that it stated that Dr. Fauci and his counterparts “could be held liable” for misconduct if previously unsubstantiated theories were to be substantiated.
“So, should the lab leak theory become established, Dr. Fauci and Dr. Daszak may be involved in funding research into viruses that caused the COVID19 pandemic and have killed millions of people worldwide,” Landy and Schmitt said.
Attorneys general also claim to be in possession of documents showing that the Biden administration suppressed information on certain COVID-related hypotheses.
“Since we filed our landmark lawsuit, we’ve uncovered documents and discoveries that show clear coordination between the Biden administration and social media companies in censoring speech, but we’re not done yet. We plan to get answers on behalf of the American people. Stay tuned in,” Schmitt wrote in a press release uploaded to the Missouri Attorney’s Office website.
That Kansas City Star notes that dr. Fauci — along with other prominent figures in the Biden administration — has become a target of Republican prosecutors who have accused the White House of attempting to restrict Americans’ fundamental rights amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Schmitt, she writes starHe has repeatedly pursued similar grievances: Earlier this year, he filed lawsuit after lawsuit against Missouri school districts that were trying to stem the spread of COVID-19 by requiring students to wear masks and maintain social distancing.
Louisiana Attorney General Landry also stressed that his office will vigorously investigate allegations that the Biden administration has colluded with “big tech” in violation of Americans’ First Amendment rights.
“We all deserve to know how much Dr. Fauci was involved in censoring the American people during the COVID pandemic; I hope to find out tomorrow. And I will continue to fight for the truth when it comes to big government working with big tech to suppress free speech,” Landry said.
dr Fauci, FOX News notes, recently made his final press statements on Tuesday and said he plans to retire from his position in the near future.
“It’s really a great pleasure to be back with you, although I think for the last time,” Fauci said before urging Americans to get vaccinated against the novel coronavirus.
